Almost one year ago, I launched the first ever rideshare video training course. The project was a TON of work but it was also a great learning opportunity for many different reasons. Today, I wanted to share a few updates on the course and recap how it’s gone.
Think of this post as a behind the scenes look at how the course has sold, what I learned from the whole project and what we’re working on going forward.

This Course Was a Lot of Work
I originally partnered with Youtube superstar vlogger Brian Cole, and we worked on everything 50/50. He eventually decided to move on and not be part of the course, but we parted amicably. The nice thing about working together with someone on a project is that they hold you accountable for your end of things and vice versa. Kind of like a workout partner.
However, partnerships are also tough because there’s always the potential that you feel like you’re doing more work than the other person. And if you feel that way, they probably feel that way too. We spent a lot of time at the onset coming up with content for the course, recording the videos and getting the back-end smoothed out so that it was easy for people to pay us.
But launching the course was really only half the battle since once we launched it, we also had to promote the heck out of it. Unlike in Field of Dreams, if you build it, they will not come. This part wasn’t as fun, but it’s somewhat a necessary evil. To be honest, I was pretty burnt out after creating and launching the course and needed a break.
What Have The Results Been Like So Far?
I try to be very transparent with the blog and most of you know that I make money off referrals, advertising partners, our insurance marketplace and the video course. I didn’t really set out to make a ton of money with this course, but I did want to see if I could create a product that people would be willing to pay for.
The answer turned out to be yes! Since the inception, we’ve sold over 400 copies of the course. Not enough that I can retire early, but enough to make the effort worthwhile for sure.

One thing I found was that by charging a premium price, most of the customers we got really did want to learn about how to maximize their profits and were willing to invest in themselves to become a better driver. If we would have made the course free or much cheaper, there would likely be a whole lot more people looking for a ‘Get Rich Quick’ type course. Kind of like what you see with Uber passengers as fares go down 😉
This is not a Get Rich Quick type course, but if you watch the videos and actually go out and employ a lot of the tactics we talk about, you will make more money and you will become a better driver.
Since we do offer a 14 day money back guarantee, there are always going to be some returns, but over the lifetime of the course, we’re at just under 10% returns. For an online course, this is a pretty low return rate, and most of the feedback we got was from drivers who were expecting more advanced strategies, tips and tricks.
So about 4-5 months ago, I started adding a few videos with advanced strategies/hacks and we were able to get the return rate down from 12% to 8%. On top of that, I also just added a few really cool case studies that I recorded with drivers on everything from promoting a side hustle to increasing your driver ratings.
Obviously not everyone is willing to pay for a $97 course, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how happy people are with the course. I think there’s a lot of value in being able to have a crash course that’s organized, full of good content and provides a ton of value.
Future Plans For MRP
We recently launched a separate video blog over on MRP, and every week we highlight a different video that I’ve recorded. For each post, we include a full breakdown/transcript in addition to the video, and you can leave comments that I’ll respond to just like on RSG.
The blog has gotten really good engagement so far, and we’re also starting to gain more search traffic from it, too.
This is something we recently launched and it’s a cool program because it actually allows anyone who’s bought the course to become an affiliate and earn money for every person who they refer. Somewhat like Uber and Lyft’s referral programs, only better since you have access to an online dashboard where you can track clicks to your link and see how many sales you register in real-time.

Partnerships (i.e. With Uber/Lyft)
Uber has worked with a lot of companies to create ‘Uber driver traffic schools’, which are essentially companies that you can get training from if you get deactivated. But they really haven’t invested much in proactive training course (like mine) that helps drivers earn more money and become better drivers.
I would love to work directly with one of these companies to create custom training that is based off real life experience from being out on the road. We’ll see what happens.
